Labour TENS made pain more manageable

Published by under Birth stories

Three days past my due date I woke around 11.30pm with some niggling pains and wondered if this was it…. we were finally going to meet our little girl!!

By 12.30am the contractions were getting regular at every 10 minutes, so I got my husband to put the TENS machine on me. With more intense contractions coming I turned the Labour TENS machine on to low. By the time I got to the hospital at 4am I was using the TENS with every contraction, adjusting the intensity to suit the contraction. One hour and fifteen minutes later I had our baby girl.

By the time I got to the hospital other pain relief wasn’t an option, as I was too far dilated, so with some gas and my TENS machine I got through each contraction.

By no means did the TENS machine take away the pain but I do believe it made it a lot more manageable and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend using it.
