I put the TENS machine on as soon as my waters broke. Mild period-like pain started about 15 mins after my waters broke. I put the TENS setting on 12 and focussed on my breathing. I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy only 4.5hours later. I didn’t use any other form of pain relief. I just focussed on pushing the boost button at the start of every contraction!!
I required sutures for a tear and was taken to theatre. I kept the TENS machine on, and again found it was fabulous to take away the pain and focus on the impulses going up my back.
Highly recommend the Labour TENS machine. Will definitely use it again.
Thank you.

The Labour TENS machine was very helpful in the early stages of labour, and was only removed when I got into the bath at the hospital for a water birth.

This was my first child so I was not sure what to expect during labour. The Labour TENS machine allowed me to stay at home and be comfortable for the majority of labour.
My baby needed monitoring due to complications, and this was the only downfall with the TENS as it interfered with the monitoring machines. This situation became apparent with only 2 hours left to go…. and we had to remove the pads.
However, all in all I would definitely use the TENS again and have recommended it to my girlfriends. Thank you.

Used Labour TENS during 5.5 hour Natural Birth. I didn’t want to use any pain relief if it could be avoided, and the TENS machine did the trick all the way through till I finally got to hold my precious, healthy daughter.
Definitely will have one for our next pregnancy. Thank you so much

Thank you for including the return post bag. You have simplified each process: Ordering, Instructions, Posting back, which has made the entire transaction (including use of TENS machine) easy & a pleasure.
I wish I had heard about Labour TENS for my first birth. I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful the TENS machine felt – even in the later stages of labour!! It felt like a stimulating, deep massage. The endorphin rush afterwards was wonderful. Thank you very much. I’m so glad the Labour TENS was a part of my labour. It was definitely a big reason why an epidural was not needed.

I found using the Labour TENS for my contractions empowering and effective. My baby was slightly posterior and became distressed with the umbilical cord looped around her neck…… I had to have an epidural and forceps delivery….. but not due to my inability to handle the pain of contractions. I felt at the time that I could have continued managing the pain with the TENS machine, if there had been no complications.
I would absolutely recommend the Labour TENS for it’s effective pain relief and it’s contribution to active birthing.

The Labour TENS got me through the first stage of labour and enabled me to stay at home for as long as possible because I could manage my own pain. I then transferred to the gas for transition and much of the second stage of labour. I would have managed without an epidural except for complications that developed with my baby (cord around baby’s neck). In the end I had an epidural & forceps delivery to give us our beautiful, healthy baby girl.

I used the TENS machine from very early on in labour and found it to be useful. I’m not sure if it relieved the pain, as I had pethidine as well, but it was a good distraction during contractions.
Initially I found the unit bulky and awkward, as I was also attached to a drip (for induced labour),so I felt I had cords coming off me everywhere!! However, once I was back on the bed, I found the Labour TENS to be extremely comfortable and easy to use. I would absolutely hire a TENS machine for another labour (this is my second use), and I will be recommending it to my sister, who is having a baby next April.
Many Thanks.

I used my Labour TENS machine at home once I realised I was in labour and found it very effective in helping me cope with the pain. When the obstetrician first examined me in the delivery suite I was already 7cm dilated. He broke my waters and it wasn’t until around this time that I needed the gas to assist the TENS machine in my pain relief.

I found the Labour TENS to be very helpful throughout labour, and am sure it contributed to me not needing any other form of pain relief apart from gas and air. It was very easy to use and my husband took control of the boost button towards the end of labour, allowing me both hands free to concentrate on pushing. Would definitely recommend Labour TENS.
