The TENS machine was really helpful

Published by under Birth stories

My birth experience this time was amazing. This is my second child. The labour was the best one could expect, and much of the credit goes to the TENS machine. The TENS machine was really helpful. It did an absolutely wonderful job in relieving the pain and I did not have an epidural because of it.  I would like to thank everyone at Labour TENS.

My Labour was totally drug free

Published by under Birth stories

I am so grateful to have found out about Labour TENS. It made such a difference during labour in management of contraction pain. With each contraction I just pushed the button, which not only diverted my attention, but stopped me from going out of my mind! Wish I had it in my first labour. I would recommend it to every pregnant woman. My labour was totally drug free and natural. Thank you.

I would thoroughly recommend Labour TENS as pain relief alternative during labour

Published by under Birth stories

I would thoroughly recommend Labour TENS as a pain relief alternative during labour. It kept me distracted and gave me something to focus on during the early and middle parts of labour. This gave me the energy and mental focus to get to the end and achieve my wish for a drug free natural labour.

TENS was recommended by the midwives at Manly District Hospital

Published by under Birth stories

The midwives at Manly District Hospital recommended the TENS machine to me. After very poor service at two chemists on the Northern Beaches, that supply TENS machines for hire, Labour TENS were very helpful, professional, courteous, and extremely easy to use.  Within 24 hours I had a TENS machine, and despite not using it in the end because of complications, that had nothing to do with the TENS machine, I was extremely grateful for this.

I would use this service again and recommend it.

The TENS machine was a great help

The TENS machine was a great help during the early stages of labour, and certainly helped contain the contraction pain making it more bearable.

I found the TENS machine fantastic for pain relief

Published by under Birth stories

I found the TENS machine fantastic for pain relief. This was my 2nd labour. My first was very long and tiring and ended with an epidural, lots of pushing and forceps delivery.

This one was only 6 hours long and as soon as the contractions got strong and I thought I actually was in labour my husband put the TENS on me.

It really blurred the edges of the pain. I still felt painful contractions, but not as strong and detailed…. more like a general pain than sharp pains all over the uterus.  Sometimes I didn’t realise how well it was working until I hesitated pushing the button and got the full impact.  I liked being able to press the boost button as it helped me focus on the contraction and have some control over what was happening. I think without it I would have felt worn out by the pain, but this way it was manageable.

At first it felt quite strong pulsing at 10, but it was surprising how gradually I kept turning it up and it felt the right strength for me at 55 by the end!  Once we got to the hospital it took only 25 minutes to deliver our baby.  I hadn’t realised I was so dilated! I used the TENS right up to delivery, and was asking my husband to turn it up for me between the last contractions and pushes and crowning.

I am so glad I used the TENS and was able to experience a natural labour in a way that was really present and meaningful. I felt that primal urge to push and scream and was totally in the moment.  It was very painful, but the TENS gave me enough relief to cope with the contractions and focus on having our baby and watch as she was born.

I would highly recommend it to everyone to try.

TENS gave me control & direction, & coping skills

Published by under Birth stories

The Labour TENS was definitely a help to me. My baby was posterior, and so I was unable to avoid intervention in the end, however the TENS gave me control & direction, & coping skills until the point where I requested an epidural. I would definitely use it again for a vaginal birth!

Although I wasn’t able to give birth with the TENS alone, I am completely happy with my labour and think the TENS played an important role in giving me control & confidence.

I would definitely hire one again!

Thanks.

Couldn’t have managed without the TENS

Published by under Birth stories

I used the TENS from the onset of my labour from 12.00pm Monday, all day Tuesday (mild labour), and I only took it off just before we left for the hospital at 7.30am Wednesday. I was checked by the nurses when I arrived at the hospital, and I was already 4cm dilated, 90% effaced. I think I couldn’t have gone for as long at home without the TENS machine.

I did have complications during my labour, which resulted in an emergency c-section, due to bub being “wedged”, but bub arrived happy & healthy….a beautiful baby boy…. Noah Robert!

I was in control thanks to the TENS machine

Published by under Birth stories

I found the Labour TENS machine to be effective at taking the edge off the pain of each contraction.  I was able to doze on and off during the night, while I was in early labour, thanks to the TENS machine, and I was therefore fairly well rested for the birth. Also having the remote (boost button) in my hand made me feel as if I was in control of something.
